No Doubt Concert

May 23rd, 2009

Haven’t written for a while, but we had some fun last night so I thought it was worth writing about :-)

Laetitia and I went to the No Doubt concert in San Diego last night. It was the first concert we’ve been to since George Michael came to San Diego last year. I had previously gone on the record saying that there were two concerts I’d be willing to go to: George Michael and Gwen Stefani / No Doubt, and it’s pretty cool that I got the chance within such a short time. By the way, I never thought I’d get to see George Michael, because he’s always “retiring”, so that was pretty cool.

Anyway, about last night… Read the rest of this entry »

Our 1st Anniversary

October 26th, 2008

So, it’s been one year together (as a married couple), and to begin/continue the tradition, we went to Hawaii for the Hawaii Star Ball ballroom dance championships.  We left Pumpkin with Frank and Francoise (along with Newton and Kepler), and set off for a week of dancing, snorkeling, surfing, and swimming.

It was lots of fun!  We one the Rising Star division at the competition, which was a great way to start of the week.  We had a room with a beautiful ocean and sunset view.  We had great weather and were even content with laying out and wading in the water most of the time.

Anyway, I’ve posted pictures HERE… eventually, I try to post some of the pictures and video of the dancing.

Thanks to Francoise for taking such great care of Pumpkin!

Happy 1st Birthday Pumpkin!

July 1st, 2008

Today Pumpkin turns 1!!!  She’s been such a good girl this last year… she still has the enthusiasm of a puppy, especially when it comes to meeting other dogs.  She still gets the rips and runs around the walls of our living room, even though she just got back from a 45-minute walk.  And she still manages to keep her energy high, even after a full day of swimming (see the photos).  We love her and wish her the happiest 1st birthday EVER!

2008 Europe Photos

May 16th, 2008

I’ve finally gotten around to processing and posting pictures of our trip to Europe. We hope you enjoy them, and we were grateful how accommodating Laetitia’s family was during our time in France!

A Looooong Trip Home!

May 15th, 2008

Laetitia and I had a great time in Europe, but we were ready to get home. My shoulder had really been bothering me in Paris, we missed Pumpkin, and were tired of the same clothes over and over again!

Our last night, we bubble wrapped up some art Laetitia purchased, and got our bags all packed. The next day, everything seemed to be going very well. We got to the airport with plenty of time, had good seat assignments (Laetitia and I on aisles with an empty seat between us), and the excitement of going home! The mood changed about 4 hours into our flight over the Atlantic… Read the rest of this entry »

From Biarritz to Paris

May 13th, 2008

It was time for the last stop on our French tour, Paris! Anne Marie picked us up from the airport, and as Laetitia and her caught up during the drive, I just enjoyed the sites; I kept checking out all the cool cars they won’t sell here in the US for some reason: Citroen, Renault, Pugeot, Opel, Fiat… and even different models of brands we do have, like BMW 1-series, Mercedes micro cars, etc., etc.

Since we got in early, we caught up with Pascal and the cousins and then Laetitia and I went for a long walk to the Basilique Sacré-Coeur… Read the rest of this entry »

From Lyon to Biarritz

May 12th, 2008

After spending time with cousins in Lyon, it was time to head out to Biarritz, on the coast in the southwest of France. Uncle Marc met us at the airport, and we took a beautiful drive to their home via the winding roads, with a stop off for fresh bread, of course. Marc and Suzanne’s place is beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the pool the day we took a long walk from the town’s center back to the house. We enjoyed lots of great food, family time, including visiting with Laetitia’s grandmother, Mamita. She was talking a million miles an hour, between catching up with us and viewing her new great grandson, Nathan, via webcam, thanks to Laurent and Cecille back in Lyon. Read the rest of this entry »

From Venice to Lyon

May 4th, 2008

Here I am, in Lyon and Caroline’s house, getting my blog on, on an AZERTY keyboard… The trip from Venice to Lyon went quite smoothly, and was very easy compared to the start of this grand escape. We had exit-row seats, a clean/new plane, and plenty of jus d’orange to make me happy :-)

Olivier picked us up from the airport, and we enjoyed the ride through the countryside and into Lyon, where we ended up at Caroline’s - we also got to meet her German Pinscher, Daika! Read the rest of this entry »

From San Diego to Venice

May 4th, 2008

Porfirio and Laetitia in VeniceSo, we made it… our travels took us from San Diego, through Dallas and Paris, to finally Venice! We were met by a representative of the dance festival who guided us to our water taxi, and we were off to the hotel on Lido. It was quite strange to be taking a boat to a hotel. Once we got settled in, we took the hotel’s shuttle-water taxi to Piazza San Marco. We poked around a bit, got some dinner, and took the shuttle back to the hotel to catch up on some rest… Read the rest of this entry »

We’ll be out of the office…

April 27th, 2008

2001 FranceLaetitia and I are leaving for Europe this coming Tuesday. We’re flying from San Diego, through Dallas and Paris, to arrive in Venice, where we’ll be competing in a ballroom dance event. After enjoying Venice for a few days, we’re off to France to visit with Laetitia’s family in Lyon, Biarritz, and Paris. We’re excited and nervous, since this is our first trip back to France since 2001 (as seen in this old picture), only my 2nd trip to Europe, and Laetitia and my first trip to Italy… FUN FUN FUN! We’ll do our best to post pictures and updates here. We’ll miss you all, and thankfully Kristin and Francoise will be looking after our Pumpkin (we miss her already).
